The Chronicles of Narnia
It was a huge honour to illustrate this special edition of stamps for Royal Mail, celebrating 75 years since the first publication of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis. In each stamp I've reimagined key moments from this classic series, from Lucy Pevensie’s first glimpse of Narnia to the epic finale of The Last Battle. As a Narnia-obsessed kid who also collected stamps, this really was a dream commission!
The presentation pack, shown below, includes the actual stamps and folds out into a double-sided sheet, revealing larger illustrations alongside fascinating insights from theologian and literary critic Dr Michael Ward on the enduring impact of this fantasy classic on Britain’s literature and culture.
Various other products include the all-important collectable First Day Cover, an information card, a collectors sheet and a limited edition signed frame.
Guernsey Post
Since 2009 I’ve had the pleasure of working with Guernsey Post to illustrate a diverse range of postage stamps.
Guernsey Post enjoys worldwide renown for its regular new issues of stamps. They are much sought after by philatelic experts, both professional and amateur, so it’s always an honour to be asked to design a new issue.
I’m often given subjects with a narrative theme - everything from Sherlock Holmes to Alice in Wonderland. It's always an enjoyable challenge and over the years they've become a kind of potted history of the way my style and approach as an illustrator has evolved.
