Set in the fictional country of Afalia, a land paralysed by natural disaster and dangerous politics, The Supreme Lie is a darkly funny commentary on our present times.
The setting of the book has a strong feel of the 1920s, which was great fun to evoke in the illustrations.
1920s style adverts, used for sections of the book that are presented in the form of newspaper articles.
The illustrations have a reportage feel, reminiscent of 1920s photography, which evoke the period flavour of the book.
